As a woman myself I feel very respected in the workplace. Promotion opportunities are offered to all employees regardless of gender, ethnic background, sexual preference etc. The RED (Respect, Equity and Diversity) framework enables employees to better understand expectations regarding their own and others' behaviour in our workplace.

My company vocally support minority groups who often suffer discrimination, and have particular focus on this in hiring processes. They also issue compulsory training that addresses several of these issues.

There are a lot of women in leadership roles, and a wide variety of ethnicities and abilities working in my workplace.
Midlevel, Canberra - 26 Feb 2020
Some areas are very heavily male dominated, particularly in more senior positions. The proportion of ethnic minorities is low, but this might be reflective of demographics in ACT in general. I think overall we do have a good commitment to diversity, particularly gender equality and LGBTIQ.

The organisation is making genuine efforts to support diversity in a range of areas. The majority of the workforce where I work is women, including senior executive, there is a strong commitment to cultural integrity. I have also been involved with the Pride Network which is supported by management. Parents of young children are supported to take flexible arrangements if needed and reasonable adjustments are made where possible.
Midlevel, Canberra - 20 Feb 2020
The diversity ratio is excellent - I predominately work with women. There are issues with recruitment which is being addressed by leadership currently. I cannot comment on maternity leave or child care as I have not yet accessed these.
Graduate, Canberra - 20 Feb 2020
There is a strong commitment to promoting diversity with flexible working arrangements readily available. I believe they could improve through greater commitment to supporting people with disabilities and providing ongoing support particularly during the graduate program.
Graduate, Canberra - 19 Feb 2020
Many policies in place to support various diversity groups. Staff are very accepting of everyone and National Days celebrating diversity and specific diversity groups are celebrated in various ways by team. Good leave provisions around having/adopting children. Recruitment is focused on merit and equity.

Diversity is high on the radar at ACTPS, recruitment policies and strategies exist or are being developed for all minorities. My organisation now has a Pride network for LGBTIQ staff and allies. ACTPS makes a point of celebrating all cultures and relevant significant events.
Graduate, Canberra - 19 Feb 2020
Diversity across the organisation is generally very good, although some areas remain difficult for minorities to break into. The organisation is a strong supporter of LGBTIQ rights. Women make up a large number of executive positions.
Graduate, Canberra - 19 Feb 2020
