Salary at ACT Public Service

We were the highest paid Graduates in Australia.

I think my rate of pay is fantastic and I am very thankful for it.

The salaries are high and the paid holiday conditions including shutdown periods are good. Bonuses do not exist in the public service so are not applicable.

Pay is reasonably in line with other salaries paid in Canberra. Good superannuation contributions.

It's usual public service wages and conditions which I think is quite generous.

I have recently started a new role that was a double promotion and am very satisfied with my current pay.

Compared to my previous company (which was an American owned private company), the pay at the ACTPS is significantly better and I feel that I am getting what I should be entitled to. Bonuses are not really a thing here but there is annual leave loading, which is a lump sum given to us in December to cover costs when taking leave over the Christmas/New Years period.

Very generous and able to climb the ladder quickly.

The pay is good however we are not awarded bonuses.

Very competitive pay package. One of the best paying organisation in Australia.

Better than private at my level (non-executive).

Pay grades at each level are extremely competitive - they top pretty much every federal department currently.

Pay package is fair with work expectations.

ACT Government can pay relocation expenses and $100/year for healthy lifestyle costs.

We have a fleet of vehicles that we can book out to use during work hours to travel to meetings, site inspections etc. The fleet also includes e-bikes and public transport travel cards.

Training abilities are high.

Location to my home (I live 45 minutes out of Canberra), and I often don't have to pay parking.

The public service does not have perks. However, the paid Christmas shutdown period (separate to annual leave) is fantastic.

Individual directorates offer a rebate for employees moving to the ACT from out of state.

Working for local government there are not any unusual perks.

Being the public service perks such as free ticket/dinners don't happen. I consider flex to be the best perk.
