Sustainability at ACT Public Service

ACT Government supports initiatives to reduce environmental impact (food waste composted in all buildings).

Our new building will be fully electric, green star rated etc. We are also moving towards fully electronic records to reduce paper usage. All of our offices encourage recycling of plastics and food scraps, as well as batteries, old tech equipment and more.

The ACTPS try to prioritise sustainability in their fleet and building design. We are also going paper-lite and it is our job to plant trees throughout the city, and encourage public transport and active travel to the community as healthier alternatives to polluting modes of transport.

Most of our work is still done with paper files while our digital systems are upgraded.

We have multiple bins for green waste and recycling at my office.

Moving to fleet of electric vehicles; reducing power consumption; promoting use of public transport.

Very committed - provides all waste bins, attempts to minimise use of lights by putting them on timers, big advocate for sustainable use of energy, etc.

Newer office buildings of the organisation are accredited as environmentally friendly spaces (e.g. Winyu House), with battery recycling and composting available. Other buildings may not even have recycling available.

ACT Health has a strong focus on waste disposal and has large recycling and food waste bins, encouraging everything to be recycled/composted where possible.
